Judge by the Actions

Other than the mighty All Blacks, I love to watch the springboks plays, especially one of their super 14 teams, the stormers. They are based in Newlands in Cape Town, and Cape Town is a lovely place to visit.
Last year, a particular player named Luke Watson, broke into the limelight by saying he wanted to puke when wearing the Boks jersey. Frankly, he should not have not said it. There was a public outcry demanding his head. Under Jake White's Springboks, Watson was selected only once that is a against Samoa, leading up to the 2007 RWC. His name was pushed into RWC list. Though he was not selected. Under the new coach PDV, he was selected an often came on as a sub in the Trinations 2008. Though after his outburts he was not considered for the year tour to the UK.

I once asked a friend from cape town about watson. He said watson carries the sins of his father, cheeky watson. During the Aparthied era, Cheeky watson was offered to play in the Springbok team, but he declined and opted to play with a colored team. And his was very vocal in speaking out againts the aparthied. Long gone now the dark era in South Africa and under the leadership of Madiba, the country in known as the rainbow nation.

this year I watched the stomers play againts the Blues, Reds and Sharks and in my opinion Luke Watson is one of the top performer. I have no qualms when Erasmus chose him in his first 15.. He defended well, carried the call well and got lots of turnover ball in which some resulted in a try for the stormers. Though when i read the comments about the stomers' game in one of the websites, they were hammering him, saying that he did not do well, lazy and all sorts of lousy things you could say about a person. I even wondered, are we watching the same game? maybe their mind are clouded by luke's outburst or because of the father... who knows?? my opinion, we need to judge the person by his actions not by who he is... yes it was wrong for him to say he wanted to puke on the bok jersey but when he is on the paddocks we need to judge him on how he plays......
